    The Value of an MBA for STEM Majors

    Amari Griffin is a second year MS/MBA joint degree student at Harvard Business School and Harvard John A Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Prior to school, Amari worked in the automotive industry in supplier quality, ensuring that parts manufactured by supplier partners met her company’s quality standards. Now in school, Amari is looking to pivot into the retail industry where she can continue to develop strategic solutions to technical problems. This past summer, she worked for Nike Inc. in their Global Operations and Technology department working on data analytics for Nike.com. Long term, Amari hopes to leverage the skills gained by the MBA program to start her own tech company to assist small businesses in the retail industry build resilient supply chains. Outside of classes, Amari is Co-President of the Sneakers Club and VP of Social Media for the African American Students Union (AASU) at HBS. She is also a Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging fellow for the School of Engineering.

     

    Vika is currently a second year student at HBS with an interest in hardware product management and operations. Vika was admitted to the 2+2 program in 2018 when she graduated from Northeastern University with a major in Electrical Engineering and a minor in History. Before HBS, Vika was an electrical hardware engineer focusing on schematic and circuit board design, deferring her admission for a total of three years. Vika first worked at an internet infrastructure startup called Starry Inc as an RF engineer, and then moved to electrical engineering at Formlabs, a company making 3D printers. For Vika's summer internship last year she worked in marketing strategy for Pall Corporation, an industrial manufacturing subsidiary of Danaher. In her free time she loves crafting, museums, and classic comedy films.

     


    Neeraj is a second-year MS/MBA student at HBS. Most recently, he worked in San Francisco as a software engineering manager at Pinterest, where he managed the Identity team. He also worked with the user and social growth teams at Pinterest. Before that, he worked as a software engineer at two B2B SaaS startups. He graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering from Northwestern.
